FAQ
The product, plainly
Lock $SPEND, vote a gauge, that stock gets bought. Extra incentives can make that vote worth more. Winning gauges can raise the card reward.
What is spend.fun?
You spend on a card. $SPEND holders vote which stocks the protocol buys. Card is on Rain. Token launches on Pons.
What is $SPEND?
The vote token. Lock it, get veSPEND, point that at stock gauges. That is how you move the next buy.
How do gauges work?
Like Curve. Each stock is a gauge. You allocate veSPEND across them. You can put everything on one ticker. Winning gauges get more of the weekly buy, and can get a higher stock reward rate.
What is veSPEND?
Vote power from locking $SPEND. Longer lock, higher multiplier, up to 2x for a year.
Does card spend pick the stocks?
No. Spend just tags merchants to tickers (Apple to AAPL). $SPEND votes decide what actually gets bought. Spend can be all Apple. Votes can still be 100% some random name.
Why did Curve wars pay more than the base emission?
Votes decided where emissions went. A protocol could pay extra to voters who picked its gauge. You got the base value plus the bribe. 100 plus 50 is 150. That is why voters chased the fattest gauge.
How does that map to spend.fun?
Same lever, stocks instead of LP pools. $SPEND votes decide where part of the stock-buying budget goes. A community or a company can pay voters to pick their ticker. More votes, more of the protocol buy lands there.
What is an example week?
Gauge budget is $100k. NVDA is at 15%, so $15k gets bought. NVIDIA people put $20k of extra rewards on the NVDA gauge. Votes jump. NVDA hits 35%. Protocol buys $35k NVDA. They paid $20k and moved $20k more buying onto their stock.
Can a company fund a gauge?
Yes. Nike, or an NKE crowd, can drop cash into the NKE incentive pool. Voters get paid to point $SPEND there. That is marketing spend turned into consumer stock ownership.
Do gauges change my stock reward?
That is the loop. Base might be 1% AAPL on a $1,000 Apple swipe, so $10 AAPL. If AAPL is winning and boosted, that can go to 1.8%, so $18 AAPL. You feel the war on the card.
Can a tiny stock win?
Yes. That is the point. If $SPEND dumps on a toy airplane shop ticker, that is the buy. Market cap does not protect AAPL.
What happens each week?
Votes lock in. Incentives settle. Winner gets more of the buy and can get a higher reward rate. New epoch starts. Do it again.
When is this live?
Soon. $SPEND on Pons first. Then you can actually lock and vote.
